Elian Gonzalez, Political Prisoner of
The Republican Party and The Religous Right
Or How To Kidnap An Eelection

What is all the furor about Elian Gonzalez, and whether he should be returned to his father in Cuba? It seems that a lot of mean spirited ultra conservatives are using this  young boy as a pawn in their reelection campains as well as the elections of their Republican butties.

 For eight, count um,  8 years now, We have been unindated with the conservitive Republican reteric about "Family Values". All during the Clinton years in office, his opponints have implied that the problems in America could be solved by  strong  family bonds.

 Now with elections looming in the forefront, and the Republicans trailing in real votes, the conservitve Republican party, really needed a cause. Enter the hapless pawn, Elian Gonzalez, who by a querk of fate, has become a tool for the election campains of the Repubican party who's political platform Young Elian would no doubt, not favor, if he were old enough to vote, and had not arrived in this country in the manner in with he did.

 For many , many years, these same mean spirited, republicans, who have historiclly passed laws favoring rich capitalist causes, have attempted to restrict immigration. The Cuban immigrants who have arrived  here in the past, have no reason to thank any of the republicans for their stay in this country. The capitalist corperation owners didn't need them, and favored shutting them out.

 None of the above politions have addressed the fact that young Elian's father was his gaurdian, not his mother, who appearently kidnapped him, and feld from the island of Cuba, to avoid charges. Neither does the above, deal with the fact that not only his father, but also both sets of grandparents also live in Cuba, and even the boy's mother's, mother, wants the boy returned.

QUESTIONS THAT NEED TO BE RESOLVED;

 1. Who should the boy live with, his father and grandparents, or some distant great-uncles and great-aunts? Who has closer family ties?

 2. Should the American public and leaders be a party to any kidnapping, whether on this soil or any other?

 3. Should anyone, from anywhere be used as a pawn, to further anyones political gain?

 4. Would these same republicans, or have any of them, ever gone to this extreme, without an upcoming election?

MY SUGGESTIONS;

 1. Give the boy back to his father NOW.

 2. Never ever again, vote for any of the people who think of a young child as only a means to get what they want. In this case, it involves gaining/ retaining control of the Congress, House of Rep., The Supreme Court, and the White House. (footnote: if they win, they will go back to their old ways)

 3. write, call, or E-mail your elected officials, and let them know that you disapprove of the way
young Elian Gonzalez has been used to feather the nests of a few mean spirited republican  opertunists.

 4. Most of all, and this speaks also to this web page, WE MUST ALL THINK FOR OURSELVES. Stop letting the news media, who will benifit from a republican election, tell us what to think, when to think, or why to think in a perticular way.
